Did Omawunmi actually attack a photographer?

I did not believe and accept this story when I head it. So I asked, did Omawunmi actually attack the photographer she was said to have attacked? The answer I got was that the lady may be a very good musician, she has a first class in being very high tempered. According to our source, the stage is the only place she owns, as for her temper, that owns her. This is sad but is she not also meant to be a very good role model, if you ask me, na who I go ask?

Top newspaper report-Lewandowski Commits to Dortmund after Failed Bayern Move.

Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski pledged his commitment to the Champions League finalists on Tuesday despite failing in his bid to move to treble winners Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski, whose contract at Dortmund runs to 2014, had refused to sign an extension late last season and had said he hoped to be joining his "club of choice" very soon.

After a months-long transfer saga and with Lewandowski set to become the second Dortmund player to be poached by rivals Bayern after Mario Goetze, Dortmund blocked the move which would have brought in millions of euros, reports Reuters.

"I will give everything I've got for Dortmund," Lewandowski told Bild newspaper. "It does not matter what happened. I am not interested about that on the pitch."

The Poland international enjoyed a sensational season, scoring 24 league goals and adding another 10 in the Champions League, including four in one game against Real Madrid.

Dortmund, who lost out to Bayern in all three competitions last season, will not receive a transfer fee if Lewandowski leaves as a free agent after his deal expires next year.

"When I am out on the pitch then Dortmund is all I think about. I want to give it all I got and be successful," he said.

Lewandowski has already bagged his first silverware of the season, Dortmund winning the German Super Cup title by beating Bayern 4-2 last week.

The 24-year-old showed no signs of disappointment over the failed transfer, setting up his team's first goal.

"I hope this was not the last title," he said.

Top newspaper report-Suarez to cost Arsenal over £50m after striker loses contract wrangle

Arsenal’s pursuit of Luis Suarez, has taken a fresh twist, as the unsettled striker has dropped his intentions to go to arbitration, which means the Gunners have to pay over £50million, to land their man.

Arsene Wenger was understood to have been waiting to see the outcome of the contract dispute, between the 26-year-old and Liverpool, after tabling a bid of around £40,000,001 which was supposed to trigger a release clause. However, in talks between the two parties earlier this week, Suarez has conceded he will not approach the Premier League to clarify it legally, as the contract states it that the Anfield club does not need to sell at any price.

Suarez is also contracted to Liverpool for the next three years, which means Arsenal has to raise their bid or the Uruguay international will submit a transfer request, to force his exit.

“We are 100 per cent confident – there is absolutely no obligation to sell and that is very clear,” a Liverpool source explained.

“We’ve all examined the clause in detail. All it obliges is good faith negotiations about Luis’s future.”

Top newspaper report-Keyamo Petitions Prisons over Attempt to Sodomise Charles Okah.

Lagos lawyer, Festus keyamo, has written a petition to the Comptroller General of Nigeria Prisons, over allegations of acts of sodomy taking place in Kuje Prison, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

In the petition dated Tuesday, Keyamo complained that his client, Mr Charles Okah, elder brother of jailed Henry Okah, was almost raped by some prison officials on the pretext that they wanted to confirm if he had stuffed some substance in his anus.

According to the petition, “On Wednesday, 3rd July, 2013, at about 6.30 am, some prison warders, specifically Mr. Isah Musa (the chief clerk), Mr. Tanko Gokuje, (the assistant yard master) and three (3) other prison warders (hereinafter referred to as the culprits) entered our client’s cell (No.1) and demanded to search his anus because they claimed they had information that he was hiding ‘incriminating’ materials therein. Before entering his cell, they made sure all other inmates were locked up in their cells.”

The lawyer maintained that although his client protested the so-called examination, the warders overwhelmed him in the cell, and when he eventually allowed the examination to be carried out, he saw Musa, the chief clerk, undressing, armed with a full and “sustained” erection of his organ, forcing him (Okah) to raise the alarm, calling for help.

According to the petition, Okah had heard of such acts of sodomy within the prison among other inmates. But until that fateful morning, he had not experienced it.

In his words: “Having heard from other inmates in the past that this is a known pattern used by warders to sodomise inmates, our client initially resisted the attempt, but was forced to succumb after much pressure and insistence by the culprits.

“However, having succumbed, to the utter shock and dismay of our client, he saw that Mr. Isah Musa pulled off his clothes and with the sustained erection attempted to carry out the acts of sodomy on him. To achieve this, our client was then held to the ground by Mr. Tanko Gokuje and three (3) other warders. Our client had to intensify his struggle and resistance to prevent the completion of the criminal act. Our client screamed for help and this was heard by other inmates.”

Keyamo said although the report of the incident was made, the prison authorities led by DCP Felix Lawrence, pleaded with Okah not to formalise the complaint and urged him to “kill the report”.

The lawyer noted that “this criminal act has been reported as a common and recurring phenomenon in the Nigerian prisons. It simply shows the despicable level of moral decadence of the officers who are paid to take charge of prison inmates.”

While urging the Comptroller General of Prisons to investigate the allegation, Keyamo called for the application of “appropriate sanctions” on those found wanton in the case.

Top newspaper report-Yemisi: Queen of the steering wheel !

What a man can do, a woman can do even better,” is a popular cliché by proponents of women liberation movement in Nigeria. The statement has not only become popular, it has also been proved to be realistic looking at several areas of human endeauvour that women are actively involved in today.
As several women are creating lasting impressions in various professional fields as well as in politics, Mrs Yemisi Ogbara, from Ilesha in Osun State, has also been representing womenfolk very well in the area of commercial driving. There are other women who are into commercial driving but they are mainly taxi drivers, who ply their business within the state of their residence. It is uncommon to find women who drive long buses for a long distance journey, like Yemisi.
The Ilesha-born Yemisi, who now drives her own 30-seater bus from Lagos to Seme, Cotonou in Benin Republic, said her commercial driving experience dates back to 1989, when she started driving a Peugeot 504 station wagon in Kano. Although, she was based in Kano where her husband then lived, her route was from Kano to Ibadan in Oyo State. She said her experiences with the policemen on the road made things very difficult for her and almost discouraged her, but because of her love for the job, coupled with her determination to prove that she could not just be intimidated because of her sex, she persisted. Top newspaper report-Nigerian Judge Sacked In Gambia Over Bribe.

A Nigerian judge Justice Joseph Wowo has been sacked for soliciting a
N2.3 million bribe from a Gambian-based Dutch businessman in return for a favourable judgment in a land dispute case, an online medium, Premium Times, reports.
Wowo, who hails from Delta State, was a former President of the Gambian Court of Appeal.
He was caught on tape holding a surreptitious meeting with the former Gambian Justice Minister, Lamin Jobarteh (who has also been sacked), a Dutch national, André Klaarbergen, and his Nigerian lawyer simply identified as Mene, negotiating a price to subverting the judgment of a Gambian High Court over a land dispute case, which Mr. Wowo agrees the Dutch rightly lost.

Top newspaper report-ASUU denies plan to call off strike on Thursday

The National President of Academic Staff Unionof Universities (ASUU), Dr. Nasir Fagge, has expressed his surprise at the news that the union was planning to call off the strike on Thursday.
Speaking to Vanguard, he revealed that they have not reached any agreement with the government yet.
“There is nothing like that (suspending the strike). I am also surprised to hear people say that we are going to call off the strike,” he said.
“Our members have made it categorically clear what they want. This meeting we had with government on Friday at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, is just exploratory.
“We are trying to look at issues holistically and see how we are going to address them. So assignments were given to various people that attended the meeting and the expectation is that we will meet tomorrow (today), Monday and look at the assignment given and also look at it on Thursday again.
“So, that is why I’m surprised to hear people say that we are going to suspend strike on Thursday. The mandate of our members is very clear. So, we will wait and see what the Monday and Thursday meetings unfold and then we report back to our members.”
When he was asked about how long it would take for ASUU officials to meet together, after the meeting with government on Thursday, he replied: “We are in constant consultation with our members, we don’t really have problems with that.
“After the meeting, we will decide when to link up with our members depending upon what is placed on table on Thursday.”
In reaction to the speculation that ASUU might call off the strike, if the government meets 50% of their 2009 agreement, Faggae said they would rather get to the bridge first and then decide whether to cross it. He however commended the Joint Senate and House of Representatives on Education, for their positive disposition towards the resolution of the crisis.
“For us, the interaction we have had with the Joint Committee clearly indicates that they are concerned like other Nigerians,” he stated
“This is expected of the representatives of people. You see the problem has always been that the executive arm of government does not really hearken to advise that are given on how best to address the problems on education in this country.
“We are convinced as a union that the only thing the government can really do for Nigerians is to avail them of education.
“Once you are able to do that, you will see that people will be able to generate jobs and they will be able to take care of themselves and contribute to nation building. So that is the argument we are placing on the table.”

Top newspaper report-Acting Taraba Gov Declares War on Suntai Targetsloyalists of ailing governor !

A dangerous spin has been added to the cold war raging in Taraba State between Acting Governor Garba Umar and his hospitalised boss, Danbaba Fulani Suntai.
The Presidency and top officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are reportedly inundated with reports that Umar has embarked on a Jihad or religious war in the state.
In a swift reaction, however, Umar’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Kefas Sule dismissed the allegations as “a tissue of lies.”. He maintained that his boss is an unwavering loyalist of Suntail, and wouldn’t do anything to hurt the hospitalised governor.
Victims of Umar’s alleged Jihad are Christian appointees who, incidentally, were appointed by the hospitalised Governor Suntai, himself a Christian.
Umar is a Muslim, and member of Izalla, a deeply religious sect of the religion.
In July alone, he sacked no less than 11 top appointees of Suntai. All of them are christians, fuelling the belief the religious cleansing theory.

Some Muslims are ignorant about their religion. As far as the Quran isconcerned, any married woman is of full age. Senator Ahmed Sani YerimaBakura

In this interview with JOHN ALECHENU, the first Executive Governor of Zamfara State, now Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima- Bakura speaks about the recent alteration of the constitution as well as his many controversies. Excerpts:
Your position on the recommendation by the Senate Committee on the Review of the Constitution that provisions of section 29 (4) (b) be deleted from the 1999 Constitution has generated public outcry. Why did you demand that the matter be revisited?
People do not seem to understand the issues; most of the criticisms about my position are based on ignorance. The issue was not about marriage, it is about renunciation of one’s citizenship. If you read the section carefully, it says a woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age. The preceding section described “full age” as meaning age of eighteen years and above. Now, removing this section will infringe on Islamic law, because Islam recognises a married woman as having attained full age. Item 61 of the Second Schedule, Part I in the Exclusive Legislative List of the Constitution says the Legislative Powers include: “The

Aljazeera News-Tall women face higher cancer risk: study

Taller women may face a higher risk of many cancers than their shorter counterparts, according to a US study.
Researchers looked at a sample of nearly 145,000 postmenopausal women aged 50 to 79 for the analysis published on Thursday in the US journal Cancer Epidemiology.
They found that each additional 10 centimetres of height was linked to a 13 percent higher risk of getting cancer.
"Ultimately, cancer is a result of processes having to do with growth, so it makes sense that hormones or other growth factors that influence height may also influence cancer risk," said lead author Geoffrey Kabat, senior epidemiologist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York.
After 12 years of following women who entered the study without cancer, researchers found links between greater height and

Women dominate Forbes list of highest paid celebrities under 30

Another young woman who is making a killing in music is Rihanna. The Barbados-born singer earned an estimated $53 million between May 2011 and May 2012, putting her in third place on the list. Her earnings this year got a big boost from an 85-night tour and her 2011 hit album Talk That Talk, which has gone gold in the U.S. and launched hits like “We Found Love.”
Like Swift, Rihanna also earns big money from endorsements. She happily promotes Vita Cocococonut water and Nivea lotion. Rihanna debuted on the Celebrity 100 this year in fourth place.
To determine who the highest-paid celebrities under 30 are, we considered album and concert sales, movie paydays, profit participation, endorsements and advertising work. We talked to managers, agents, lawyers and other in-the-know folks to come up with our estimates. We did not deduct for agent fees or the expenses related to being a celebrity. We did not include athletes on this year’s list, although they are included in the Celebrity 100.
The highest-ranking man on our list isn’t even old enough to drink. Just 18 years old,  Justin Bieber comes in a close second behind Swift with $55 million in earnings. Bieber (who appeared on the cover of our Celebrity 100 issue this year) earns big from his music sales, concerts and endorsements for products like Proactiv. The Bieb is also a budding venture capitalist: He’s made investments in start-up companies like Stamped, Tinychat and Spotify.
Bieber is the only male in the top five. Ranking fourth is Lady Gaga, who at 26 earned $52 million between May 2011 and May 2012. That’s a big drop from the $90 million she earned to top our under-30 list last year. That’s because our time frame ended before the singer embarked on her latest world tour, which is selling out shows in Eastern Europe. Expect the pop princess to earn more next year.
Rounding out the top 5 is Katy Perry. The singer earned an estimated $45 million this year. At the age of 27 she is now a divorced millionaire. Her heartache helped power some of her new hits, including “Part of Me,” which has gone platinum in the U.S. Perry ranked eighth on the Celebrity 100, but her popularity didn’t help her recent concert film at the box office. Katy Perry: Part of Me earned only $7 million in its opening weekend.
