The lagos state government, the sale of paraga,NURTW and the 'gospel of safety'

I am sure that am not the only one in Lagos that will recall the speed with which the banning of okada riders from the express was carried out in Lagos state. The reason the ban took place, was because the Lagos state government claimed it was out of concern for the people of Lagos laying claim to the so many accidents out there and we all as citizens believed the government. Why not? At least it's for the good of all and if the government can see it, why not give credit to the government.

However, may be and just may be there is something which had being going on in Lagos which is even more dangerous than okada on the high way that the government of Lagos is yet to see. I am referring to the danger posed by danfo drivers who, when you seat close to them, have very red eye balls and their entire body smelling of alcohol which they take and claim they get strength from to sustain them on their job. A lie which not only kill them, but also had led to the death of so many innocent citizens in Lagos State.

At the motor parks, you will
see this traders who come with a drink called paraga on their heads. They will drop it down and drivers will in their numbers go there to buy. By the way for those who don't follow on what paraga means, it a drink sold to people which is a combination of different alcoholic hot drinks with a particular harbel root which carries a special lie with the tag, herbal drink. The idea of it being a herbal drink is a bloody lie from the belly of deceivers as it is nothing but a combination of heavy alcoholic drinks not fit for anyone wanting to drive let alone carry other people. This drivers drink this and drive on the high way putting the lives of those they carry and other motorist at risk. The terrible thing to note is that their union leaders drink it, how then will they be able to stop the drivers from drinking same?

I say this because the death which claimed the life Of Miss Oyindamola Olaniyan a 24 year old lady whose picture appear on this page is indeed a sad one. She was burnt together with others because claim had it that the driver who drove that bus was not only drunk, he was very drunk and as a result of his drunken state, human beings got burnt to death. As she was laid to rest today amidst tears from family, friends and colleagues who could not hold their tears, one can't help but ask this questions;

Is the message don't drink and drive clear enough?

Why then are danfo drivers and bus drivers allowed to drink and drive?

Are they some sacred cows?

How come the Lagos State government has refused to see and stop this act?

How come the Lagos State government has failed to call the NURTW to order on this?

Lives have gone. Many more will go if measures are not put in place. We believe in Lagos and the leadership of Lagos. We thank the Lagos state government on the development so far but on this subject we say Save our soul we humbly plead.
