Genevieve Nnaji: honoring a natural talent on her birthday

You will remember the birthday of some individuals not just because they are in this world with you, but because when you look at your life so far, you cannot but thank God for the contribution they have made to your life either directly or indirectly.

Many will remember Genevieve because of her contribution to Nollywood. The face behind the name Genevieve Nnaji did much with her natural talent to bring smiles to the faces of many not just in Nigeria, but in African and the world. The style with which she played her roles, the natural inputs clearly showed that though she may have grown with the act, she was also born to act. For many, you will say, they were born to do this and such a statement is true of this being when you look at her on screen. There is nothing as beautiful as an actor who
knows when to do beyond the direction of the director, Genevieve is in a class all by herself.

The international recognition that her contribution gave her and the very pride it made Nigeria feel is a sign that the salvation of Nigeria is up to the youths. I saw her interview on CNN and I could not but feel proud as a Nigerian. She did not have to pay to be interviewed, she was interviewed because her work was recognized. This is a huge lesson to those who lead her country.

There are no perfect humans, only humans who keep doing what they have to do. She may have made her own mistakes in life, she had by those mistakes contributed her own fair shares to what makes all motals no matter the celebrity height fallible.

So on this day, as she marks her birthday, we celebrate not just the actress, model, musician, ambassador, but we celebrate You for who you are. Happy Birthday.
