Top newspaper report-Ozekhome: Kidnappers Release One Victim.

Indications emerged Sunday that human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), might regain his freedom today, following an alleged positive discussions between the kidnappers and the family.

Hopes of his release arose following the release of one of those abducted alongside Ozekhome and a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Athanasius Ugbome.

Ugbome's freedom was confirmed at about 1p.m. Sunday.

There was jubilation in Benin City and his Oviukwe community in Edo State, when it was rumoured that the chieftain had been released. But the jubilation was cut short when the residents of Benin City only sighted Ugbome and not Ozekhome.

Confirming Ugbome’s release, his elder brother, Paschal, in a short message said: “Praise be to God, he has been released.”

Sources at the state Police Command also confirmed the release of Ugbome, adding that: “We are also expecting the release of Ozekhome any moment from now. Like we said earlier, we want him released unhurt and we are working on that.”

Against this backdrop, uncertainty continues to surround the release of Ozekhome, who it was learnt, is hale and hearty.
