Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's wife Sue for divorce on groundsof“unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery”.

This for many has been a long time coming. With the statement of Pastor Chris before his church elders on this subject, you can't be shocked that this is coming...
The dissolution of the marriage between Christ Embassy Church founder, Pastor Christian Oyakhilome, and his wife, Rev. Anita Odegwa Oyakhilome, has entered the final phase.
The wife is seeking divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery”.
She outlined several allegations against the pastor which we cannot publish for legal reasons.
The divorce case, with Suit No FD14D01650, was filed on April 9, 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK, on Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, a full-service law firm with expertise in commercial law and a strong consumer focus in family, wills and estate, personal injury law and medical negligence.
Efforts to reconcile the popular couple, whose church is one of the biggest denominations in Nigeria and has branches all over world, have failed. They have two teenage daughters, Sharon and Charlyn.
Oyakhilome is the president of Believers’ Love World Inc, the registered name of the Christian ministry, while his wife is the vice-president.
The pastor, according to an elder of the church, has denied allegations of adultery and believes his wife is being influenced by “bad friends” who are intent on destroying their home.
While Anita believes she has been relegated in the scheme of things in the church, her husband has reportedly accused her of trying to usurp power and authority above her seniors in the ministry.
Sources told us that the pastor had been making efforts to avoid divorce in the hope that the wife would eventually have a change of mind.
However, we can also report that the decree nissi was served on the charismatic pastor in his hotel room during a recent visit to the UK.
Decree nissi, in legal terms, is like a yellow card in a football match which is a precursor to a red card (“decree absolute”) if no new evidence is provided to stall proceedings.
Church insiders said Oyakhilome had been hoping for rapprochement, but he was left with no option than to receive the papers when the lawyers cornered him at his hotel in London. The decree absolute, which will effectively end the marriage, is expected to be issued soon while terms of the divorce will be worked out by the lawyers on both sides.

News report-EBOLA SCARE: FG shuts schools till October 13 !

The Federal Government, yesterday, took far-reaching decisions to curtail the spread of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in the country as it postponed the resumption of all primary and secondary schools till October 13, even as government cleared the air on the health status of a sister to the late Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh, confirming that she is Ebola-free.
Announcing the shift in resumption date in Abuja, Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, said the decision became necessary in view of the risk posed by the Ebola virus which could easily spread through schools.
His words:  “All primary and secondary schools, both public and private are to remain closeduntil Monday October 13, 2014 which is the new school resumption date for all schools throughout the Federation”.  The schools were originally scheduled to re-open in the second week of September.
Shekarau, who briefed the press at the end of a meeting with state commissioners of education, added that all on-going summer schools were also affected with immediate effect.
Further, he said the change in the resumption date was also to enable the Federal and state governments, as well as school authorities put in place adequate preventive measures before the pupils returned to school.
“All state Ministries of Education are to immediately organise and ensure that at least two (2) staff in each school, both public and private, are trained by appropriate health workers on how to handle any suspected case of Ebola and also embark on immediate sensitization of all teaching and non-teaching staff in all schools on preventive measures. This training of staff must be concluded not later than September 15, 2014”.
He further directed states Ministries of Education to establish Working and Monitoring Teams for effective supervision of school activities before and after opening of schools.
“Each state Ministry of Education should appoint a designated Desk Officer not later thanSeptember 1, 2014, who should also receive appropriate training and who must report on daily basis to the Honourable Commissioner on situation in the schools. The names of such Desk Officers, their phone numbers and e-mail addresses should be communicated to the Headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education not later than September 1, 2014.
“All primary and secondary schools, both public and private should be provided with a minimum of two (2)  Blood Pressure Measuring Equipment by the State Ministries of Education. The State Ministries should determine the number of such equipment required and forward same to the Federal Ministry of Education not later than September 1, 2014. Ministry of Education will liaise with the Federal Ministry of Health to ensure that appropriate equipment are procured,” he added.
Summer schools closed
“All summer classes currently being conducted by some private schools should be suspended with immediate effect until October 13, 2014.
“All private primary and secondary schools must comply with the directives given under these preventive measures. State governments are called upon to support their Ministries of Education with all necessary funds to ensure effective implementation of these preventive measures”, Shekarau said.
He warned that any private or public school that failed to comply with the directives would be sanctioned.
“Our concern is for the children and we would go to any length to ensure both private and public schools comply. You can imagine if a child is infected in a boarding school of say about 600 children, it would be very dangerous. We are not saying there is Ebola in all states of the Federation but we are putting some preventive measures in place.”
He also advised all tertiary institutions to suspend exchange of staff and students programmes, visits and major international seminars and workshops until further notice. They are also to monitor the movement of foreign students in their campuses. They are to liaise with appropriate government health institutions to organize and ensure effective sensitization programme for all their teaching and non-teaching staff.”
Adedavoh’s sister not positive — FG, LASG
Also, yesterday, cheering news came from both the Federal Government and Lagos State Governments as both have cleared the air over the health status of a sister to the late Dr. Stella, Ameyo Adadevoh.
Briefing the press in Abuja on the update of the EVD in the country, Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, debunked rumours that a sister to the late Adadevoh tested positive to the virus.
Corroborating the minister in Lagos, State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who raised alarm over false stories being disseminated via social media, lamented that such rumours being circulated have been a critical and pervading challenge to the fight against the virus.
Idris said:  “These rumours have the capacity to undermine the efforts being made to contain and manage the outbreak as those who ought to present themselves for treatment may get discouraged, malign government in the face of residents and fuel stigmatisation of individuals and businesses.
“I do not want to mention names because that is part of what we are told not to do but I must say that the report on the woman is false. She was discharged yesterday (Monday) as negative.”
We have contained Ebola – Chukwu
Thirty eight days after importation of the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, into the country by the late American-Liberian, Mr. Patrick Sawyer, the threat of the disease may have been contained, following the survival of eight of the victims, seven of who have been discharged; screening of a total of 321 persons, even as additional 10 contacts were listed Monday in Lagos.
Disclosing this in Abuja, the Health Minister said two more patients with the Ebola virus disease have been discharged from the Isolation Ward in Lagos State, bringing to seven the number of patients that have been treated and declared free from the virus in the country even as the number of deaths from the killer disease scourge still remains five, including the index case, Patrick Sawyer.
Chukwu added that the nation has had 13 cases of EVD including the index case.
“Of these 13, five including the index case unfortunately did not survive the disease and are now late.
However, seven of the infected persons were successfully managed at the isolation ward in Lagos and have been discharged.
“Two of the treated patients, a male doctor and a female nurse were discharged yesterday, both of them primary contacts of Mr. Patrick Sawyer, having satisfied the criteria for discharge.
“As I speak to you, Nigeria has only one confirmed case of EVD, a secondary contact of Mr Patrick Sawyer. This is an indication that, thus far, Nigeria has contained the disease outbreak.
“I wish to reassure Nigerians and indeed the global community that the government shall remain vigilant and will not relent as government continues to work with her partners to ensure that the disease is kept out of the country,” the Minister added.
Besides, the minister informed that 129 persons had been freed from surveillance, having passed through the 21 days incubation period for the virus without testing positive. Similarly, 128 persons are still on the radar of government for the virus, the minister stated.
“All those who are under our surveillance, only one person is symptomatic; we are investigating, the result is not out. All others are not symptomatic,” the Minister stated.
Speaking further, Dr Idris explained that the recovery of seven confirmed cases in the state have buttressed that Ebola infection is not a death sentence.
“The suspected case is awaiting confirmatory test result to inform the next line of action. Currently there are two cases, one confirmed and one suspected in the isolation centre at the facilities in Mainland Hospital, Yaba.”
He disclosed that the seven Ebola-free patients are being re-integrated successfully with their families and communities.
“The common thread amongst the recovered cases is their early presentation for supportive treatment. There is no need to hide friends and relations we suspect have come down with the disease. The earlier they are brought for screening and surveillance, the better the outcome.”
Idris explained that three bodies were cremated and two properly buried after full decontamination of bodies.
Nigeria records 61.5 percent survivors
Nigerian and the world at large yesterday received the cheery news that the country has con
tained the threat of the dreaded EVD following the discharge of seven infected persons out of the 13 confirmed cases. Currently, only one person is at the isolation centre in Lagos and her condition is stable. Two more patients with the Ebola virus disease have been discharged from the isolation ward in Lagos State,
Nigeria lost five persons to the disease including the index (first) case, Mr Patrick Sawyer, the late Liberian-American who brought the disease to Nigeria on July 20, 2014.
With the development, the disease killed 38.5 per cent of those affected in Nigeria. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that 90 per cent of those affected die from Ebola.
Through sheer determination and care on the part of government and awareness by the citizenry, Nigeria ensured that only 13 persons out of a population of 167 million were affected and 61.5 per cent of Ebola victims survived the disease. The record is bettered by Uganda, which in 2007 had 149 cases and 37 deaths (25 per cent fatality) and Cote d’ Ivoire that had one case and no death in 1994.
Since the outbreak of the disease in four West African countries — Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Nigeria, late December 2013 and this year, the WHO, as of August 22, said that 2615 cases and 1427 deaths (54.57 per cent fatality) have been recorded.
The breakdown of the figures is as follows:
*    Liberia—1082 cases, 624 deaths, 57.67 per cent fatality
*    Sierra Leone—935 cases, 392 deaths, 41.93 per cent fatality
*    Guinea— 607 cases, 406 deaths, 66.87 per cent fatality
*    Nigeria— 13 cases, five deaths, 38.46 per cent fatality.
Nigeria is by far the most populous of these countries with a population of 167 million and yet recorded the least number of cases, an indication of the professional manner the government, health authorities and the citizenry handled the challenge.
The populations of the other countries are:  Uganda (37 million), Cote d Ívoire  (16 million), Guinea (10 million), Sierra Leone (six million) and Liberia (3.5 million), whose total of 73 million is about half of Nigeria’s population.
Don’t stigmatise discharged patients
Imploring all Lagosians not to stigmatise all cases and contacts that have been given a clean bill of health, Idris urged them to facilitate their re- integration into the society.
He cited the American doctor who was recently discharged by Emory Hospital, USA and how he was openly embraced by both the hospital staff and family members, “setting for us an example to follow in the integration process of discharged cases and contacts,” Idris said.
The Commissioner allayed fears of discharged patients coming down with the virus again saying that the chances are almost nil but does not mean that such patients could not be re-infected with another strain of the virus but not the particular virus that late Sawyer imported into the country.
“The process by which cases and indeed contacts are discharged is also in line with best practices, involving reviews by critical members of the Ebola Emergency Operations Centre,” he added.
Further, he pointed out that a contact becomes infective only when symptoms appear-fever being a game changer.
“By and large, only symptomatic contacts are admitted. Asymptomatic contacts are admitted when the index of suspicion that they may be lost to follow up is high.
“Contacts are monitored twice daily for temperature changes and symptoms. On self-admission or evacuation of contacts for conducts of confirmatory test, their homes including areas of common use with co-tenants, offices and relevant general surfaces are decontaminated,” he said.
On other challenges, Idris said that rejection of febrile patients in hospitals without proper assessment may also increase stigma and deter self-reporting.
He explained that not everybody with fever or haemorrhage has come down with EVD.   A situation where these cases are automatically referred to Mainland General Hospital is not good practice.
The commissioner appealed to medical practitioners in both public and private health facilities to commence the management of these cases using universal safety precautions and only refer them if there is an indication to do so.
Why First Consultants Medical centre is  still shut
On when First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, where the first case was treated, will be reopened, Idris said the state government is waiting for directive from the World Health Organisation, WHO, as there will be many decontamination exercises in the facility.
The Commissioner who said already several decontaminations have been done in the place confirmed that it was going to take some time before the facility will be opened.
“I need to get clearance from the Ebola Emergency Operation Centre because they are the one who could give clearance that the hospital is clean and ready for re-opening. It is after that the state government embarks on its own process. Decontamination may not be complete because some of the equipment in the hospital may be discarded, burn some materials and other activities. This is to ensure that the hospital is free of the virus. So it will take some time before the hospital will be reopened, but once we get the approval WHO and EOC the government will do the needful.”
No Ebola-free certificate
Idris said there is need to report every death and obtain Ebola-free documentation to facilitate the transportation of out-bound corpses from the state.
He however, dismissed rumours about Ebola free certificate saying that: “There is nothing like Ebola-free certificate being issued routinely to persons applying for visas in foreign embassies in Nigeria. Clearance certificate are nonetheless issued to contacts that have completed the 21-day maximum incubation period of EVD.”
N1.9 bn not for Ebola fund – Chukwu
Meanwhile, the Health Minister said that the N1.9 billion earlier approved by President Goodluck Jonathan, at the time he declared emergency of over the disease, widely believed to be used for containing the virus, is for the improvement of the nation’s general health systems.
“We did say that the N1.9billion that the President approved was for the Federal Ministry of Health; those ones that the Federal Ministry of Health should champion. That fund was provided based on the budget that the Federal Ministry of Health submitted to Mr. President. It was not termed an Ebola fund.”
“I repeat, because now I hear that in some places, even village heads are asking for their own share. Nigeria is always thinking of sharing money. It is money for the Federal Ministry of Health to use in working. They are going to use it to procure more vehicles; which have already been ordered.
“They are going to use it to procure more personal protective equipment which has already been ordered. They are going to use it to provide isolation tents, which again have been ordered, including drugs which will be used to support the patients. It is a budget for the Federal Ministry of Health and its agencies as submitted by the Federal Ministry of Health to Mr. President.
“What I am saying is that there will still be other funds that will still be released in various ways depending on what any of the cognate agencies is requesting from Mr. President that must be done.
“Now, in the case of Lagos State, after the President met with all Governors, together with their Commissioners for Health, it was clear, even from the statement made by the Governor of Lagos State, that Lagos State is also under pressure because many of the workers we are using are from Lagos State. We can’t shortly go and start recruiting people. We work with the state. It is just that in every epidemic, the Federal Government with the Minister of Health in the front takes control of epidemics. It is not a state government matter.
“But, we use state personnel as well and local government personnel; we used everybody, our partners are part of it. But, the leader of the team is the Minister of Health.
“So, Lagos State government has been spending money. They pay salary to staff; they’ve been recruiting more staff. They give these staff incentives. They provided the isolation wards. But, we led and decided who should work there. The Minister of Health created the teams that are working,” Chukwu argued.
Earlier, National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, had donated one million Naira to help contain the virus.
He said: “This is the first time in the history of our country that our elected and appointed people and leaders have risen to the great challenge we are facing. I want to commend the health workers for the risk they have taken, their commitment, and their dedication to their duties in assisting the entire populace to completely be ready for this challenge.
“There is no way that the Federal Government alone can be left alone to face the burden of the Ebola challenge. It is my well-considered opinion that citizens of this country, corporate organizations should try and make their own contributions to help in the awareness for people to understand what the challenges we are facing with this Ebola scourge,” he added.
Ogun free of Ebola — Soyinka
In a related development, the Ogun State Government   has refuted a report making the rounds that the state had recorded cases of Ebola Virus at Imeko-Afon Local Government Area.
Describing the report as false and unfounded, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka, remarked that the state is yet to record any case of Ebola virus to date. Speaking in Abeokuta, Soyinka called for calm and urged the people to adopt hygienic steps provided by the Ministry of Health, as government was taking necessary steps to prevent the disease.
“The State government has increased the number of health workers who are well trained on how to restrain movement of foreigners into the state, while some health workers are presently undergoing training on how to curb the spread of the disease,” Soyinka said.
Members of the public are directed to report persons showing symptoms of Ebola virus to the Ministry of Health or call toll free  0909914012109091140122 and 09021715984.
Youths protest location of quarantine centre
Hundreds of youths in Emohua Local Government have protested the location of Ebola quarantine centre in the community.
The protesting youths who said there was  no case of Ebola in the state yet, expressed fear the disease could spread if the community was retained as a quarantine centre.
Speaking on the incident, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Sampson Parker, allyed their fears, saying the quarantine centre would not create any problem.
Parker, who confirmed arrival of a foreign medical team from the Elizabeth Griffin Research Foundation, USA in Port Harcourt said the team would train medical personnel and doctors in the state on how to manage Ebola cases.
“They are to be trained on how to handle Ebola Virus Disease, if it comes into Rivers State. It is a pre-preparedness training against Ebola.
“The health workers involved are not only to be drawn from the Rivers State government, but from all facilities, private hospitals, multi-nationals, Police, the Armed Forces, every one that has something to do with health care; every facility, every establishment that has something to do with health care is represented here.
Ebola fight gets $150 million from Development Bank
In a related development, the African Development Bank will prepare an additional $150 million in funding for nations stricken by the Ebola virus as the WHO plans to seek more resources and money to fight the outbreak.
The worst-affected countries may see 1 percentage point to 1.5 percentage points shaved off economic growth because of the disease, the bank’s president, Donald Kaberuka, stated in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The money will be distributed in loans and grants to bolster epidemic preparedness and response, the WHO said. The bank previously pledged $60 million to help the countries fight Ebola.
More than $430 million will be needed to bring the worst Ebola outbreak on record under control, according to a draft document laying out the WHO’s battle strategy. The sum now being sought is six times more than the $71 million the WHO suggested was needed in a plan published less than a month ago.
“The response at the beginning wasn’t robust enough,” David Heymann, a professor of infectious diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine who worked on the first recorded Ebola outbreak in 1976. “It’s a step forward that they’ve made the plans and I’m glad they’re emphasizing rapid containment as a start.”
Ebola has killed 1,427 people in Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria since December. The WHO plan sets a goal of reversing the trend in new cases within two months, and stopping all transmission in six to nine months. It requires funding by governments, development banks, the private sector and in-kind contributions, according to the document obtained by Bloomberg News.
More than half the cost will be needed for the treatment, isolation and referral centers that are bearing the brunt of the epidemic, according to the WHO plan.

Doctors Shun Strike, Join NDDC Free Health Mission

Despite the nation-wide strike embarked upon by the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, since July 1, some doctors in Rivers State did not hesitate to participate in the free medical programme organized by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in conjunction with Golspin Health Care Foundation at Asarama Health Center in Andoni Local Government Area of the state.
Flagging off the free health programme, the NDDC Managing Director, Bassey Dan-Abia, said that the program was a gift from President Goodluck Jonathan to the rural communities in the Niger Delta.
Mr Dan-Abia, who was represented by the Rivers State representative on the Governing Board of the Commission, Ephraim Etete-Owoh, said that apart from bringing good health to the people, the agency was determined to change the face of the communities with development projects.
He appealed to the people to always support NDDC and cooperate with its contractors to ensure timely and satisfactory completion of projects in their communities. He also urged contractors working for the commission to deliver quality projects for the benefit of the people of the Niger Delta.
The Chief Medical Consultant and leader of the medical team, Professor Adelayo Ejele, commended the doctors who volunteered their services at a time most doctors were keeping away from government hospitals. He said that the Asarama community and their neigbours should be grateful to the NDDC for bringing the free health programme to their door-steps.
He revealed that 156 patients were screened for HIV/AIDS and only 2 persons were found to be positive. Fortunately, Ebola, he said, was not there yet. He prayed that it would never get to the region.
Speaking for the Asarama community, Chief Appolus Ewaye, noted that the health programme came at a time many people in the villages were finding it difficult to access healthcare facilities. He expressed appreciation to the NDDC for the programme.
The seven-day free medical programme, which has attracted thousands of patients in the area, would be rounded off on Saturday, August 23. Several communities in the nine Niger Delta states have benefited in the last one month.
A total of 1,479 cases were treated, including 21 surgeries, 108 dental cases and 365 laboratory investigations.

EFCC Arrests Impersonator of Okonjo-Iweala’s Secretary

A suspected fraudster that impersonated Barrister Wilson Amarachi, Secretary to Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
John Nze Madu was arrested at Diamond Bank, Ojodu branch, Lagos, where he went to make withdrawals with an ATM card. Investigation showed that Madu defrauded a Chinese national, Wu Qingzhu, of the sum of Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty American Dollars ($5,380) when he allegedly posed as Barrister Wilson Amarachi and deceived the Chinese into believing that he had outstanding payments to collect for contracts executed for the Nigerian Government.

This, he achieved by presenting the Chinese with fake documents from high ranking Nigerian officials. He allegedly used different email addresses, two documents purportedly from Daily Sun Newspaper, an official gazette purportedly signed by President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President, David Mark and an international passport data page purportedly belonging to Amarachi.
Madu contacted Qingzhu through an online message, informing him that he was expected to open a non-residence account in Nigeria and make payment of $300 (Three Hundred United States Dollars). Qingzhu complied and made two other payments: $1,430 (One Thousand Four Hundred and Thirty United States Dollars) and $3,650 (Three Thousand Six Hundred and Fifty United States Dollars), through Western Union.
Madu was arrested at the bank premises where he went to withdraw proceeds of his fraudulent activities.
He would be charged to court after investigations are concluded, according to the EFCC.

British Prime Minister Speak on the Killing of American photographer

All in the name of what?

David Cameron this morning broke off his holiday to return to Downing Street, following the brutal murder of an American journalist by an Islamic State jihadist thought to be British. The Prime Minister will hold meetings this afternoon over the 'shocking and depraved' execution of photographer James Foley. The dramatic development came after the Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said the Islamic State was waging war on Britain and the West and the organisation had to be dealt with 'on that basis'. He also said the jihadist filmed executing Mr Foley 'appears to be British' and revealed the Government believed the video was 'genuine'. Mr Hammond said the UK would oppose the Islamic State 'with every breath in our body' and could send British troops to Baghdad to train Iraqi forces to fight the 'evil organisation'.

The American freelance photo-journalist James Wright Foley was beheaded by ISIS in a video message posted online and titled as ‘A Message to America’. You may want to check online for video as this blog will refuse to Publish such.

Tinsel Couples-The Pride Of Mnet

For many, Tinsel started with a fire it no longer has. This according to them is not because it's the  intention of the Tinsel crew or that of Mnet,  but because they could not sustain so many characters who helped the Tv series attain the status it got in Africa. For some Character, they killed them suddenly and killed their role but for others , they went quiet for too long making the producers and directors look like jokers. An example of this is the Telema and Soji roles. Their absence expecially that of Soji became so silent that mention was not even made of them for a long time and Soji had a friend like Chuks in the play. In that play, Chuks now carry on as though Soji was dead, a lapse too obvious to ignore.  According to a commentator, the tv series is now lacking depth and looks a a play fit only for secondary school children. One person argued that he lost interest because the owners were not able to keep the starts he got very used to. So as they left, he left also. However, in my opinion, Tinsel has done well. I say this not because I am seeking the reward of any man, but because I know it is not easy to go past one thousand episodes in any African series and still hold the fire like they once did. Yes, it may have lost it's once held catchy fire, I trust that the crew know where they are going. May they get there before losing too many of their fans.

While some are no longer watching Tinsel, I am sure they cannot but envy how the programme created  celebrity couples out of their stars. Though not the direct intention of the owners of Mnet, I am sure that Mnet will be very proud of themselves for this love couples. Not only has the creation of Tinsel set brought them together, some are married, even with a child while the other have blown open their sweet romance . Before now, Alex and Florence Okechukwu pupolarly known as Ene and chuks in Tinsel tied the not and the union has a child to show for it. Following this, is the the alleged secret marriage after their proposal between Damilola Adegbite and Chris Attoh popularly known in Tinsel as Telema and Kwame. Most recently, the pictures of OSA Ighodaro and Gbenro AJIBADE went viral as the two love birds went public with their love affair. To have had three couples from one set is something the management of Mnet should be proud of and in fact create a story from. May be a reality show should come from it or perhaps a movie titled Tinsel Couples.

Congratulation to the management of Mnet, the Tinsel crew and the couples. E no easy...Lol

Dr Ameyo Adadeboh: Nigeria owe her even in death

I
Late Dr Ameyo Adadevoh

Some times,  generals go to war only to return home to greater recognition in countries where value is placed on those who carry out heroic actions on their behalf. In Nigeria, generations yet unborn will remember , when they read the story of the Dr who went all out, not minding coorperate image to expose the presence of the Ebola Virus to Nigerias after her battle with the Liberian Patrick Sawyer who brought it to Nigeria. A man many have come to label a terrorist. If the doctor had hidden the fact of the Ebola deadly virus due to public and corporate image, perhaps you and I may never have heard about it yet a ministry of Health exist in Nigeria. God is watching many even on 10d.

Nigeria owe this doctor even in death. Her bravely must not go unrewarded. Truthfully, she only did her job . But in doing her job, she did what many would never had or have done. Cooperate image, much more than safety would have been the guiding principle of many had it happened in their hospital. But first consultants and this doctor exposed it not minding the effect. My call is that both the hospital and the family of the doctor be rewarded for their bravery and that is also not forgetting the nurses. This recognition and reward should be higher than winning even the nations cup. Nigerians must request this if only to honor the late doctor.

For her bravery and those of the nurses that died before her, may God in his infinite mercy bless them with eternal bliss in Jesus name...amen.

Chelsea Vs Bounley : The Win, The inspiration and The way forward.

It was important to see Chelsea Fc play the way they did yesterday expecially watching them play the type of football they played expecially in the first half. Seeing Diego Costa score the first goal was really good and perhaps very encouraging. He held his own very well . It was also good to see Andre Schurrle and iVanovic get on the score sheet. Drogba coming into the game provided the boys with a boost his age not withstanding. Thibaut Courtois had one very important save and his presence in the air considering his height was overwhelming and very intimidating. Three goals it produced and that was enough to cancel the first goal which came from the home side to produce an emphatic 1-3 victory setting the pace for what will be a very interesting season.

If you read my article yesterday which I titled Chelsea ten commandment for a healthy season-Lesson from last season you will find out that the first goal came because the team violated commandment number two which says Chelsea lose too much concentration in defence. Read that article on my blog.  The boys follow the ball not their man. If they do that all the time , they will concede more goals playing a team like Man City, Everton, Arsenal and the likes this season. They must
Learn to follow the ball but above all, they must watch their man. Space marking will mean a team can get beaten like a baby even if they play good football.

That said. Yesterday, one player was outstanding. He provided the games inspiration for the team. Am sure you know the player am talking about. He won the games man of the Match, Cesc Fabregas. Fabregas provided the games inspiration. He made it super impossible to miss Frank Lampard even though both are great players in their own class. Fabregas yesterday provided the pass when needed and of course he provided the pass which led to Schurrle's goal, a goal that will stand as arguably the best assist of the season. For a while, I wondered after I heard Lampard left if we will get again, that Lampard who will be able to provide those passes. Fabregas did not waste time in filling that gap. Trust me, he made the Chelsea midfield solid and he gave the midfield the much needed mobility. Kudos to the new blues man.

However, without wanting to sound negative, Chelsea played yesterday what I call a give away football.  The team yesterday played a predictable game. The team cannot play such with a top class team like Man City. The way the ball was passed by the team was predictable. Play with the closest man was the style and hold on to the ball was the key. Am sure, the team played like that yesterday because of the confidence the coach has in his current midfielders. Cesc was there, matic was imposing and Hazard provided his super confidence to make the move upfront better as a great attacker of the ball. However, after the first half, once the Bournley coach gave his team the antidote in the dressing room, the game became tight in the second half. Chelsea, though played their game , they could not go past the defence. The simple antidote to what Chelsea played yesterday was, deny them the ball, close them up and crowd the midfield. Bounley did that in the second half and am sure you know the number of shots the team had on goal in the second half. No single goal came in the second half. The team was caged. If you noticed it yesterday, because of the style of passing, they wanted to dribble into the net. I am not sure I noticed any shot from outside the enghteen yard box except the two times Schurrle tried. Not taking those shots from outside the eighteen denied the team some goals yesterday. The team must watch this. Get more goals if you can because it may matter in the long run.

Going forward, Mourinho must be willing to approach every game with certain patterns the boys can switch to once he gives them a sign. They cannot afford to keep doing the same thing in a game. The second half showed that one pattern in a game may hinder you from scoring goals . But all in all, it was a good way to begin the season, winning was good but the game played must improve. Hey, it's only the beginning of the season, trust Mourinho to provide the surprises .

Chelsea Ten Commandment for a healthy season-Lessons from last season.

As Chelsea FC take on Bounley today in an away game to begin their campaign in the 2014/2015 season of the most watched league ,the Epl,  there are issues to consider and lessons to bring forward from last season .

1. Chelsea cannot afford to lose to supposed lesser teams

A lot about this explained why Chelsea lost the league and went trophiyless last season, they underrated smaller teams. If the team want to win this season, they must play every match the same way. They must underrate no team.

2. Chelsea lost too much concentration in defence

As powerful as Chelsea defence was last season, they kept losing concentration when it mattered the most. Players were not watching one another in defence. In those days, my coach used to tell the person playing six and the one playing five to watch one another. If one is going, the other stayed behind. If one was going to mark, the other returned to cover just to ensure the back was not exposed.  The defence did so well last season but minor loss of concentration cost the team. Cahill and Terry must watch their back. If a Terry will play less, who ever it is must watch the other. To expose your defence is like giving a player a penalty.

3. Chelsea style of marking opened them

Last season, I noticed very strongly that Chelsea boys exposed themselves with the way they marked. The boys followed too much of the ball as against following their man. That way, opponents threw lots of change location passes and it caught them deeply. A player will change the scene say from left to right and you may end up finding four opponents there but just one Chelsea player. Last season. I found myself shouting on my seat, hold your man right from my living room. I wish they heard me. But I hope I don't have to shout this season that way.

4. Chelsea must know when to hold the ball

There were games were all the player  needed to do was release the ball and deny the opponent ball attention as a fellow player was better placed but holding on to the ball too much denied them a lot. In all I write here, am not interested in name calling. However I think playing for the team is better than being selfish.

5. Chelsea must kill a game before making lesser changes.

Last season , because the team underrated some clubs, Chelsea played some unacceptable football. Players who had not played for some time were used to execute some games and when it started going bad, he brought in his key players who had no enough time to make anything happen. If the team must win, they must play the key players first and then make changes later. Like they say, prevention is better than cure.

6. Chelsea must play Torres out of position.

I strongly feel that the last time Fernando Tiorres saw himself as a striker was when he played at Liverpool. I say so because at Liverpool, his positioning was in a class all by itself. Also, his one touch on the ball resulted in a lot of goals for the club. However, when he came to Chelsea, expecially after the English press described him as a player not fit for fifty million, Torres lost it. Because he always wanted to prove a point, he will want to dress every ball or romance the ball each time he got it. He rarely  played tip tap, instead he wanted to dribble.there were moments when Torres needed just one touch, he wanted to dress the ball. In truth, he lost his sharpness. He played more like an attacker than a striker. But he is a good player. He fought for the ball and made good passes. For that reason, I think rather than keep benching him, Chelsea must play him out of position.  He should play eight or ten. He can perform

7. Chelsea Should play young players like Nathan Ake from time to time

The only way to develop a player is by allowing them in the midst of the giants. Twenty minuite to the end of a game or fifteen munuites is good time to allow the young ones in the squard develop. They are hungry and will want to proof a point. Last season , this boys rarely played, how then do they develop?

8. Chelsea must not expect a miracle from Diego Costa

As the whole team expects him to perform, other strikers should be encouraged along side him . Drogba is old but has the fire in him. I know I requested that Torres be played out of position, if the coach won't , he must allow him Play time from time to time as a striker. I say this because it becomes difficult to get result from a player who has become not just match rusty but competition rusty as well. They need the games  to push them not the bench to warm them. The club made this mistake last season. Many players were not given hope . This has to change.

9. Chelsea must bring back that believe.

Last season, the coach said, the title is not ours this season. Perhaps it was a mind game but it did work down the psyche of the boys. The believe to rule must be hundred percent this season. Mourinho has to show once again why he was once voted the best coach in the world . Many believe he has lost it with pride, they describe him as being too proud but I think, he is still the special one and the happy one. The believe has to return.

10. Chelsea must repeat last season top club form

Last season, if there was one thing Chelsea fc did so well, it was the fact that they took very personal all matches played against the top clubs. I refer to teams like Manchester city, Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal. The way they played the first legs with this teams made these teams fear them. Those teams wished they did not have to play Chelsea a second time. If they can bring that mentality from last season into this season, it will go a long way to position them as champions.

I have argued it before and I will say it again. The 2014/2015 Epl trophy is that of Chelsea to lose. They have what it takes to rule England in a special way this season . And beginning with Bounley today, let the sky remain blue.

Ribadu's Empty speech and Defense!

I want to raise issues from four angles based on the defection of Mr RIbadu to the PDP. Make no mistake about it, MR RIbadu has a God given right plus a right as a citizen to operate with what ever political party he pleases or chooses to operate. No one can say no to him on this. However, when people like this speak to the public, they must understand one fact, we have a God given understanding and experience good enough to read Inbetween the lines. Based on this, we can ask questions even though in most cases,We get no answer. Ribadu's defection to the PDP from the APC raises fundamental questions. We will leave this questions alone and attempt to look at points to consider based on the statement made by his spokes person.

1.there was no difference between the PDP and APC, in terms of the character of the people who constituted both parties his spokes person said. Please tell me, how come RIbadu only just realized this now? Some will argue that promises may have been made to him from PDP. Assurance may have been given on things we know not. Others could however argue that haven worked with a PDP government in the past, he trust them better.

2. In Nigeria, especially in politics, you can’t say that this is an exclusive party for the people who are thieves or this is for good people. We know this. One thinks this is clear expecially considering the fact that one must defend his actions. But we are sure that RIbadu knows that there are good people in Nigeria politics and there are thieves. But believe me, many will say, he moved to were they steal better but others will say, he wants to show that there can be a different man even where you think they steal better. Another line of thought could say, no, he only wants to add to the number of good ones where he is going so that the good ones can increase. Some can still argue that, he wants to be the most outstanding amongst the good in a place where you have the good , the bad and the very ugly . Another line of thought could say that he once served Nigeria selflessly but found out that there was no gain in it. Now, he is back and his second coming could speak volume. In Nigeria , the naira speaks but the dollar shouts.

3. He said that his defection was not borne out of his desperation to realise his political ambition but was based on his patriotic zeal to serve the country and its people. May be RIbadu will convince us otherwise. I know of politicians who had this same zeal before getting into office but upon getting there, the music changed. Zeal will need to be defined. To truly serve zealously? Or steal zealously ? Based on what we know of Nigerian politics, one cannot but reserve his comment.

4. If you are ready to serve the people, sometimes you will have to do something that is not even palatable to yourself.” Is he saying he is moving to the PDP unwillingly? So why is he joining them? Is he saying winning will be impossible for him with APC?  Is APC a failure from the start? May be RIbadu is trying to tell us something. I want to rule as governor, I am a member of a party that can't win because the north does not like them or because they are too selfish or because they did not treat me well or because they did not compensate me well, though I love them, it saddens my heart to say, due to irreconcilable differences, this marriage can no longer work, let's go our seperate ways. What!!!

This is just the thought of someone thinking aloud ...

The main reason I defected to PDP – Ribadu opens up
A former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Sunday justified his defection from the oppostion All Progressives Congress to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, saying the APC was not better than the PDP.Ribadu, who was the 2011 presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, forerunner of the APC, said there was no difference between the PDP and APC, in terms of the character of the people who constituted both parties. The ex-EFFC chairman, who spoke through his spokesman, Mr. Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, said this while fielding questions from one of our correspondents in Abuja. He said, “In Nigeria, especially in politics, you can’t say that this is an exclusive party for the people who are thieves or this is for good people.“It’s just like saying that all Yorubas are this or all Igbos are this. In every group of people, there must be good people and there are bad people. Of course, the good may be more than the bad or the bad may be more than the good in any group.“But there is no any party that is exclusively for the good people or for the bad people.” He said that his defection was not borne out of his desperation to realise his political ambition but was based on his patriotic zeal to serve the country and its people.Abdulaziz said, “It is not true that he (Ribadu) was desperate to realise his political ambition. This is because this decision was taken in the overriding interest of serving the people.“What matters for him is service. That is why even when he was a member of the opposition party, when government asked him to serve the country, he accepted the offer and he did a wonderful job that everybody hailed except those who don’t want change in the system.“If you are ready to serve the people, sometimes you will have to do something that is not even palatable to yourself.”But one of Ribadu’s close political associates in Yola told one of our correspondents that Ribadu’s defection had more to do with his governorship ambition and the alleged failure of the APC to give him the expected support and compensate him for his “sacrifices” for the party. The source said part of Ribadu’s sacrifices, which he said the APC had failed to reciprocate, was his offer to step down for the then presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 election and also his role in “wooing some governors to join the APC”.The source linked Ribadu’s defection to his unresolved grievances against the APC, which the source made the ex-presidential candidate to succumb to pressure mounted on him by people, including the Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mu’azu; Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and a Principal Secretary in the Presidency, Hassan Tukur, to join the PDP.PUNCH
