Air fares skyrocket following Dana, Associated Airlines suspension

Information made available to us says that Barely a week after the suspension of Dana Air and Associated Airlines by the Ministry of Aviation, airfares have skyrocketed astronomically. Trust Nigeria operators, Domestic airlines are capitalising on the void created by their absence to increase fares.

Investigation carried out revealed that the suspension of the two airlines has led to increase in demand on the very few existing airlines plying the domestic routes. Currently only
Five domestic airlines are operating and these are Arik Air, Aero Contractor, Medview, Chanchangi and First Nation. A 55 minute flight from Lagos to Abuja on Aero which attracted N18,000 before has moved to N27,000. Arik fare on same route has jumped from an average of N28,000 to N32,000/N39,000, while Medview has moved from N16,800 to N29,000. Chanchangi is now N25,000 while First Nation which charged around N19,000 on same axis sold its ticket for about N25,500. Nigeria, na wa o.
