President Jonathan will have to decide which God he wants to serve! Nigerians are groaning

By Joseph Ogundare

According to the CBN governor in today's newspaper report, house of rep members and senators collect five hundred thousand naira per night for local trip. Wow, am tripping. If this two category of people collect five hundred thousand a night, how much will the leadership of both houses be collecting? How much will the president be collecting? Little wonder Nigeria is where it is today.

From time to time, president Jonathan visit Redemption camp for prayers. He is not ashamed to allow the journalist take pictures of him, if  only to show Nigerians that he desires to seek the face of God. It is not in my place to judge whether that action is sincere or not. But it will be a shame  if all he does is, kneel before pastor Adeboye for prayers when his heart is far from God. It will amount to a curse if in his heart, during those prayers, he was laughing at the Man of God. I say this  because, that is what his life and actions right now is telling us as Nigerians. Jonathan through his actions and that of those in government, is merely laughing at Nigerians. I proclaim this as the truth I know except he proofs otherwise

Newspaper report- Tiger Woods Back to no. 1

It has been a very long time since we were talking about Tiger Woods’ golf game being back to its best. But now, 870 long days since he lost his world number one spot, he is very close to reclaiming his position as the best in the business.
His career has been defined by major success, the youngest player to win all four majors, the biggest earner in golfing history, but along his journey to sporting greatness he lost it all over the space of a few months.
Since he collided with a fire hydrant in October 2010, and details of his sordid extra-curricular activities became known to the public, Tiger lost his flair, on the course at least.
His divorce, lost sponsorships and flailing fans left Woods in a terrible state. When he returned to the golf course, it was not the same Tiger the fans had come to know and look up to so much. He even dropped out of the top 50 in the world and he looked a man that would never find the form that had earned him so much in the past.
But Woods has

Newspaper report-PDP moves to appease aggrieved govs • Anenih embarks on fence-mending tour of states.

ALARMED by the possibility of disintegration, the Peoples Democratic Party leaders have decided to come down from their high horse and beg the aggrieved governors of the party, The PUNCHlearnt on Monday.
The governors’ mass boycott of the party’s peace meeting and celebration of the first anniversary of its National Working Committee, chaired by Alhaji Bamagar Tukur, on Sunday, had apparently sent jitters through the leadership hence the decision to appease the state chief executives.
Both the party’s new Chairman of Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, and Tukur as well as other party members were said to have been shocked by the governors’ absence at the meeting already planned to showcase the success of the PDP’s peace tour across the country.
The mass boycott, curiously, came on the heels of speculations that many PDP governors were already making moves to defect to the yet-to-be-registered opposition coalition party, the All Progressives Congress.

Newspaper report-INEC denies APC registration …cites irregularities.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has denied the controversial African People’s Congress, APC, registration. This is on the account of irregularities in the addresses of its national officers which is one of the requirements of the electoral body for registering parties.

Newspaper report-Proposed fuel price hike: NLC, TUC mobilise for mass protest !

Both labour centres, and oil workers under the aegis of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD and Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers Senior Staff Association, PENGASSAN, as well as civil servants have also vowed to join the protests.
The protest could be a repeat of the mass action that paralysed the nation following the fuel price hike on January 1, 2012 and forced the government to back down. President Goodluck Jonathan had said last week in Lagos that the government would still remove fuel subsidy after due consultations with Nigerians while speaking at the Nigeria Summit organised by The Economist.

Nasir El-Rufai: Nigeria’s budget and the dance of masquerades

By  on March 26, 2013

Traditional masquerades have one enduring commonality: they run backwards and forwards; jump up and down and generality create an atmosphere of chaos. At the end of their exertions, though, not much would have changed because both the masquerade and the spectators know one thing: it is all drama.
If any scenario can be used to describe the imbroglio surrounding Nigeria’s budget this year, it must be that of the dance of the masquerade – from the Presidency to the National Assembly and back again, with little substance by way of policies and programmes to create jobs, stimulate economic activity and reduce poverty. If anything, the Nigerian public who are little more than befuddled spectators are left with nothing but the dust from the meaningless exertions for which they would be charged about 5 trillion naira.
