Showdown Imminent As Giwa Denounces Warri Elections. Threatens To Resume At NFF Secretariat Today

A showdown is imminent between the newly elected executive members of Nigeria Football Federation led by Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa faction. Despite the election in Warri yesterday considered as the only recognised by the World football body FIFA and other stakeholders, Chris Giwa who is the chairman of Giwa fc have vowed to resume at the NFF office this morning to take over administration of the place. Whereas Amaju Pinnick who just emerged as Maigari successor has also gave indication he would resume officially in office today thursday october 2, 2014.
Speaking to journalist, Chris Giwa said he sees no reason why he shouldn’t return to work considering he is still number one as far as Nigeria’s football is concerned. “We shall resume on Thursday. I issued a statement to that effect. We have been working so we would be going back to office on Thursday."
In the said press statement, Giwa stated: “I, Ambassador Christopher Giwa, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation elected into office on the August 26 2014 at the Chida Hotel in Abuja remains the head of the nations football governing body."
“It came to our notice that some people gathered in Warri in Delta state to conduct an illegal election. We are aware that as a law abiding body, we followed the prescription of the Court of Arbitration in Sports (CAS) after exploring all available arbitration processes as provided for in the NFF Statute. Since we approached that court, I have in accordance with international best practices kept mute.”
Delta State Football Association chairman, Amaju Pinnick, who was yesterday in Warri elected the new president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after front runner Shehu Dikko controversially withdrew from the race is also expected to fully take over the affairs the game tomorrow.
This means two presidents will show up at the Glass House this morning, each claiming the right to govern the country’s football.
